Baseball is back! Sort of....

As the State continues to loosen restrictions on businesses and activities due to the COVID-19 pandemic, baseball fans have been waiting for news about the summer season. Well, in Gibbon at least, baseball was back – kind of. The Gibbon Reds hosted Jordan on Sunday, June 14 at McGowan Field in Gibbon for the first town-team baseball game of the season. It was considered an ‘exhibition game’, and not part of their conference schedule. A large crowd turned out to watch the Reds, but people also did their best to adhere to the social distancing guidelines. While the Reds lost to Jordan 5-9 after nine innings, they played a good game, and everyone enjoyed the beautiful weather and a chance to do something that felt ‘normal’.  (Staff photos by Denise Bonsack)
