MAYNARD CHARLES GRAMS

Maynard Grams, age 85, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm, MN.

Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2020 at the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Wellington Township, rural Fairfax, MN. Pastor Scott Muske will officiate. Burial will follow in the Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2020 at the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Wellington Township, rural Fairfax. Visitation will continue from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Maynard Charles Grams was born on December 4, 1934, to Harvey and Elvira (Hillmann) Grams at their home in Wellington Township near Fairfax. He was baptized on December 16, 1934, and later confirmed in his faith in 1948, both at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Wellington Township.

On April 14, 1956, Maynard married the love of his life, Geraldine Dahlquist, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Franklin, MN. Maynard and Gerry shared 63 loving years of marriage and were blessed with three children: Maxine, Dennis, and Duane. He was also blessed with seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He treasured every moment with his children and enjoyed all visits with his grandchildren.

Maynard resided with his family on his Grams family farm for most of his life. He spent many years farming. He truly cherished his century farm award/recognition that he received in 2002.

He loved taking trips with his family. Some of his favorite places to visit were, California, Arizona and Branson, MO, to listen to country western music. He also enjoyed camping and fishing trips with his family and friends in Minnesota. In addition, he also enjoyed a good polka dance with his wife and shaking dice over a cup of coffee with his friends at Smokey Hollow.

He was a lifelong member of Emanuel Lutheran Church and had served on the church council.

Maynard is survived by his wife, Gerry; his daughter, Maxine Kiecker and her husband Greg, of Hector, MN; his son, Duane Grams of Gibbon, MN and his special friend Shelly Egan; his special niece, Rhonda Wendinger of St. Peter, MN; seven grandchildren, Anna (Brian) Doehling, Christina (Scott) Clobes, Rebekah Kiecker, Marc Kiecker, Justin Grams, Kirissa Grams, and Mitch Grams; six great-grandchildren, Nadine, Wyatt, Soren, Hadley, Bryce, and Kendrick; his sisters, Lorraine Lentz, Erdine (Stern) Albrecht, LaVonne (Delbert) Boyum, and Joy Friton; brother-in-law Dallas (Joyce) Dahlquist; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Maynard was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Grams; his parents, Harvey and Elvira Grams; his father-in-law and mother-in-law Alvin and Signe Dahlquist; and his brothers-in-law, Harlan Dahlquist, Fritz Lentz, and Paul Friton; and Godchild, Julie Lentz.
