BENJAMIN “BEN” MATTER

A Celebration of Life Service to honor Benjamin “Ben” Matter, age 30, of Windom, MN and formerly of Lamberton, MN will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at the Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Lamberton. Burial will be in the Lamberton Cemetery at a later date.

A visitation for Ben will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Windom. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, for one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church in Lamberton

Benjamin Roland Matter was born on October 26, 1994, to Allen Gene Matter and Sheila (Henderson) Matter Woelfel in New Ulm, MN. He attended Red Rock Central elementary and high school and graduated from Windom Area Schools. Ben continued his education at South Central Technical College, where he studied auto body. He worked as an auto body technician at Jackson Collision & Classics for Nate Pigman, for more than 10 years.

Ben was the kind of guy who voluntarily fixed everyone’s cars. On his lunch breaks and in his spare time, you could find him cleaning paths for frolfing, as he was part of the Jackson County Disc Golf League. Ben played football and wrestled in high school. He liked to skateboard and go frolfing, but most of all he enjoyed time with his fiancé, Cara, and his family. Building the tree fort with Aria and Brian was a highlight. You would often find Ben having a Coors beer and fixing his dad’s truck with the kids at his side.

On New Year’s Eve, Ben went out to enjoy a night on the town, and his life was tragically taken. Ben passed away in the early morning hours of January 1, 2025, at Windom Area Health in Windom.

Left to cherish his memory are his fiancé, Cara Zamzow of Windom; children, Aria Lynn Matter and Brian Allen Matter of Windom; mother, Sheila (Jess) Woelfel of Morgan; siblings, James (Michele) Stiles and their children, Adriana, Aubrey, Ariel, Angel and Ava of Westbrook, Brittany (Nick) Layman and their children Jordan, Chase, Grayson and Alexis of Balaton, Alan Woelfel and his son, Huxley of Morgan, Zoey Woelfel and her children Jayden, Anja, Illiana, Gabriella, and Rolando of Springfield, Jenna (Cody) Meacham and their children Zeke, Seth, Finn, Otto, Nora (Eleanor) of Windom, Ryan Zamzow of St. Paul; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Scott (Angie) Zamzow and their children Anna, Sara, Eden, Gavin of Windom; grandparents, Peggy Dzuris of Mora, Pat Stiles of Lamberton, and DeEtta Bishop of Arizona; as well as many relatives and friends.

Ben was preceded in death by his father, Allen Gene Matter; sister, Kayla Danielle Marie; aunt, Janie Schwartz; grandparents, James Bishop, Dale Irish and John Stiles, Erwin and Martha Matter; great-grandparents Dan and Jane Rath; and special family, George and Jean Bedner, and Maria Bedner.
