Myra Dora (Piehl) Bushard, age 95, of Gibbon, MN, passed away on June 24, 2021, while visiting family in Arizona. She has joined her husband and son in Heaven.

Services will be held at a later date.

Myra was born May 28, 1926, to Marie and Erbin Piehl in Stewart, MN. She graduated from Stewart High School at age 16 and attended Stevens’ Seminary, a teachers’ training facility established in 1871 in Glencoe, MN.

She was united in marriage to Leo John Bushard on June 30, 1947, at St. Willibrord’s Catholic Church in Gibbon. Myra and Leo were married 44 years and blessed with three children: Cynthia, Vincene and Anthony.

Throughout her life she worked at various jobs, teaching in McLeod and Sibley counties, 3M in New Ulm, head cook at Gibbon Public Schools, working with Leo and their different trucking businesses and finally at Hands, Inc. for over 20 years, retiring at the age of 80. She loved listening to Polka Music on KNUJ, even when visiting in AZ. She enjoyed hand and tied quilting, learning new crafts, and had many hobbies as well as reading. She will be remembered for giving away her dish towels, baby quilts, baked goods, kettle corn and special treats to family and friends.

During the past year of her life, she wintered in Arizona to be closer to her family, intending to spend her summers in Minnesota with them as well.

Myra is survived by Cindy (Florain) Stevens of Mankato, MN; Vincie (Dwight) Jacobson of Queen Creek, AZ; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Bernice Piehl; brother-in-law, Hal Meder; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leo; her son, Tony; and her two brothers, Ralph, his wife Helen and Gerald Piehl.
