Team Gibbon hosted their Walk to End Alzheimer’s fundraiser on August 20 in Gibbon. Despite a much-needed rain storm, Team Gibbon participants wore purple, gathered with family and friends, and walked the streets of town to raise funds to end Alzheimer’s. In addition to the walk, a raffle for great prizes was held at D’s Pit Stop following the walk. (Submitted photo)

Motorcyclists from across the State met in Granite Falls on Saturday, August 14 for the annual Ride to Remember (formerly the KMS ride). The ride remembers and honors military heroes that have lost their lives in service to the United States of America. The group of several hundred bikes came through Morgan Saturday. The Fairfax City Council met for their regular meeting on August 10.
Beginning the meeting was Joel Grejtak, Superintendent of Streets & Utilities who addressed the Council regarding purchasing a SCADA System for the city’s Water Treatment Plant and Lift Station #1. A SCADA system is a supervisory control and data computer system that provides communication and data to personnel.

The August Gibbon City Council meeting was held August 3, 2021.
The final payment was approved for the 2019 street project and the project was officially closed. Finalization of the project was delayed because the initial seeding of the grass did not fill as required. The seeding done this spring was much more successful.

Jim and Diane Becker of Fairfax received the Renville County Walk In The Park 2021 Angel of Hope award this past Friday. This award honors individuals who have given extraordinary volunteer service to support cancer survivors in Renville County. The Walk in the Park event is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing emotional and supportive services to newly diagnosed cancer patients in Renville County. Last month Canterbury Park, the live thoroughbred and quarter horse racing facility in Shakopee announced the newest members of the Canterbury Park Hall of Fame. That list included Morgan native Joel Zamzow’s horse, A P Is Loose. The thoroughbred is among the all-time leader in purse earnings in the history of the racetrack.
