The Gibbon City Council met for their regular meeting on Tuesday, February 6 with a closed session from 6:00-7:00 p.m. and the public session starting at 7:00 p.m. All council members were present as well as Dana Lietzau, City Administrator, Jason Rettig, Public Works, three members of ISG Inc., and Andrew Eckermann with his wife, Rachel and son.

The GFW boys’ varsity basketball team hosted the Springfield Tigers in a Tomahawk Conference matchup on Tuesday, January 9th.
The Tigers controlled the tip and scored the first two points, but the T-Birds answered quickly. The teams traded baskets and kept the score close. Midway through the quarter, the Tigers had a 13-18 lead, but by the six-minute mark, the T-Birds had regained the lead 22-18.

GFW Public Schools may not be the largest district in the state, but we are fortunate to have a wide variety of amazing opportunities for our students to try. In addition to career-focused programming and options for theater, music, and athletics, students can take part in a variety of clubs and groups that allow them to grow their interests and talents and build strong friendships and relationships with others.

GFW Public Schools is looking for a community member from Winthrop to fill a vacant position on the GFW School Board to help provide governance for our district as we continue our mission of Growing Future World Class Leaders! School Boards are an essential part of the public school system and act as the voice of the community when it comes to providing a future-focused education for all of our students.
