The Cedar Mountain Lady Cougars hosted the Springfield Tigers in the second game of a Tomahawk Conference double-header on Friday, January 31 in Morgan.
The Cougars controlled the tip, and held their own for the first few minutes of the game, but the Lady Tigers turned on the gas and went on a 12-0 run, taking the score to 4-14 at the 11-minute mark.
The Cedar Mountain girls’ varsity team traveled to New Ulm on Tuesday, January 28 for a Tomahawk Conference matchup against the Cathedral Greyhounds.
The Cougars hit the floor and wasted no time. They were hitting their shots and keeping the Hounds at bay, building a 10-0 advantage early in the game.
The GFW boys’ varsity basketball team hosted the BLHS Mustangs in a Tomahawk Conference battle on Friday evening, January 31, in Fairfax.
The T-Birds held stead through the first half, with consistent shooting.
By the end of the first half, the T-Birds had built themselves a decent advantage. They took at 10-point lead into the halftime break, with a score of 34-24.
GFW’s Dance Team ‘Voltage’ hosted their annual dance team invitational on Saturday, January 25 at the Intermediate School in Fairfax. Teams from Richfield, Minnewaska, BOLD, Yellow Medicine East, Spectrum, and New Ulm Cathedral joined the Voltage Dance Team in a great day of performances. During the intermission, the day also featured performances by the Gibbon Just for Kix dancers.
The GFW boys’ varsity basketball team hosted the Tigers of Belle Plaine for a non-conference matchup on Monday, January 20.
The T-Birds put the first points on the board on a three-pointer by Dominic Henrichs. Johnnie Ambrose added two more to keep GFW on top 5-3 before the Tigers tied things up at the 15-minute mark.
The Cedar Mountain Cougar boys’ varsity basketball team hosted the Knights of Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s on Tuesday, January 21 in a Tomahawk Conference matchup.
The game was a battle from the start. The Cougars trailed through part of the first half, but kept their deficit manageable.
