Arvina Schweiss, age 82, of Fairfax, MN passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at the Sleepy Eye Medical Center in Sleepy Eye, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, July 12, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, July 11, 2024, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and will continue one hour prior to the service, ALL at church.

Arvina Mary (Malecha) Schweiss was born on February 23, 1942, in Northfield, MN. She was the daughter of George and Marion (Tuma) Malecha. Arvina was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth. She received her education in New Prague, MN, and was a graduate of the New Prague High School class of 1960.

On January 28, 1967, Arvina was united in marriage to Peter Schweiss at the Immaculate Conception Church in Lonsdale, MN. After their marriage, the couple farmed in Wellington Township, Renville County, MN. They were blessed with six sons. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker. Arvina and Peter shared 54 years of marriage when Peter passed away on October 23, 2021.

Arvina was a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, St. Ann’s Aid and the American Legion Auxiliary #205 in Fairfax.

In her younger years, Arvina enjoyed golfing, gardening, bowling, canning and cooking. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Arvina is survived by her sons, Jeff Schweiss of Delano, MN, Greg Schweiss of Chisholm, MN, Tim (Janel) Schweiss of Fairfax, MN, Joe Schweiss of Willmar, MN; grandchildren, Leo, Kristi, Jacob, Jack, Joshua, Jared, Trevor and Jenna Schweiss; great-grandchildren, Payson, Amelia, Lyric; sisters, Alvina (Paul) Malecha of New Prague, MN, Arlene (Arnie) Kabes of New Prague, MN; brothers, Donald (Mary) Malecha of Lonsdale, MN, Norlan (Kris) Malecha of Burnsville, MN; sisters-in-law, Sharon Malecha, Elsie Skluzacek of Lonsdale, MN, Serena (Ron) Gauceau of St. Paul, MN, Jane Skluzacek of Lonsdale, MN,  Mabel Schweiss and Mary Schweiss; brother-in-law, Ken Schweiss of Cedar Rapids, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Arvina was preceded in death by her parents, George and Marion Malecha; husband, Peter Schweiss; sons, Bradley Schweiss and Anthony Schweiss; sister, Arnita Novotny; brother, Lester Malecha; sisters-in-law, Sister Margaret Schweiss, Beatrice Schweiss, Wilma Schweiss, Lucille Schweiss, and Annelda Schweiss; brothers-in-law, Fritz Novotny, Leo Schweiss, Robert Schweiss, Walter (Donna) Schweiss, Dennis (Roberta) Schweiss, Howard Schweiss, Gilbert Skluzacek, John Skluzacek; granddaughter-in-law, Jenna; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Benedict and Margaret Schweiss.
