Carrollynn Rathmann, age 80, of Gibbon, MN passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2023 with her family in St. Paul.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 19, 2023 at St. Willibrord’s Catholic Church in Gibbon. Father Brendan Rolling will celebrate the Mass. Burial will follow in the St. Willibrord’s Catholic Cemetery in rural Gibbon. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, August 19, 2023 at St. Willibrord’s Catholic Church in Gibbon.

Carrollynn Annette Anderson was born May 11, 1943 to Alvin and Myrtle (Lickfett) Anderson in Lafayette. She was baptized on June 20, 1943 in Lafayette, MN and confirmed on May 19, 1957 in Gibbon. Carrollynn graduated from Gibbon High School in 1961 and went on to attend business school in Minneapolis. She then began working at the Lutheran Brotherhood for a few years before returning to Gibbon to work at 3M.

On July 22, 1967, Carrollynn was united in marriage to Clarence Rathmann at St. Willibrord’s Catholic Church and their union was later blessed with three children. Carrollynn dedicated her time to raising her children and helping Clarence on the family farm in Severance Township until she returned to work in 1989. Carrollynn spent the next twenty years working at the Winthrop Good Samaritan Nursing Home until she retired in 2009.

 In her free time, Carrollynn enjoyed gardening, reading, helping on the farm, teaching religion, and serving as a Eucharistic and Liturgical Minister at church. Many treasured memories were made playing softball and singing in the choir while at Lutheran Brotherhood, polka dancing at the Gibbon Ballroom with Clarence and her family and friends, and spending countless hours with her children and grandchildren. Carrollynn will be dearly missed by those who knew her. Blessed be her memory.

Carrollynn is survived by her daughter, Angela (Jay) Kothari; sons, Patrick (Nancy) Rathmann and Gregory (Kimberly) Rathmann; five grandchildren, Aiden, Dylan, Katherine, Eleanor, and Florence; sister, Margaret Lund; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Rathmann; her parents; sisters, Dorothy, Marion, Donna, Elaine, Eunice, Marlys, and Sandy; brothers, Calvin, Earl, and William; special friend, Chuck Hesse; and other extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Gibbon Fire Department.
