MICHAEL A. SCHAUST

Michael Anthony Schaust of Mound, MN peacefully raced home to be with Jesus on May 28, 2025, surrounded by the love of family and close friends.

Born November 29, 1954, in Buffalo, MN, Michael grew up on farms in Delano and Hollywood Township. He was the third of seven children and a 1972 graduate of Watertown-Mayer High School. Michael spent 30 years in construction as a proud ironworker affiliated with Local 512. He was driven by a strong work ethic and a deep sense of purpose in helping “build America.” He married the love of his life, Lori, in 1986. Their greatest joy came from adopting their children, Willy and Sydney.

Michael was known for his kindness, friendliness, and positive nature and as such, he made a lot of friends on the journey of life. Throughout the good times and the challenging times, Michael believed he was always truly “living the dream.”

Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Lori (Nelson) Schaust; his children, Willy (and his wife Zoey) and Sydney; his siblings Lynn (Randy Wendt), Ed (Mary Jo), John (Barb), Dennis, and Becky (Jim Bakken); along with numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends whose lives he touched in countless ways.

A celebration of Michael’s life is scheduled for June 24, 2025, at the Gillespie Center in Mound (2590 Commerce Blvd), with a time of visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. and funeral service starting at 12:00 noon. Immediately following, there will be a reception at Buddy Boy Fine Barbeque (8175 Highway 7, Minnetrista, MN 55375). All who were touched by his friendship, kindness, and love are warmly invited to come together to celebrate a life well lived.
