Vernon Lloyd Meyer, age 91, of Moltke Township died peacefully on Thursday, October 7, 2021, at the Southview Living Center in Gibbon, MN after a recent cancer diagnosis.

Funeral service were held on Monday, October 11, 2021, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Moltke Township. Pastor Wayne Bernau officiated, and burial followed in the St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery in Moltke Township.

Vernon Lloyd Meyer was born March 17, 1930, on his family’s farm in Moltke Township to John and Lydia (Freyholtz) Meyer. He attended St. Peter’s Lutheran School and was a 1948 graduate from Gibbon High School.

He was united in marriage to Rosella Dahl on May 23, 1954, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Fairfax, MN. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Lutheran church where his faith remained steadfast in both good and challenging times. Vernon and Rosie farmed in Moltke Township until 1982 when they moved into Gibbon. In March of 2020, Vernon decided it was time to join his Southview family in town.

Vernon loved farming and everything that went with it. He enjoyed morning coffee with friends and then taking a drive around Moltke to check the crops. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and watching his grandchildren grow.

Vernon is survived by his sons, LuVerne (special friend Cosy) Meyer, and Michael (Fran) Meyer; his daughter, Deborah (Tom) Forstner; his grandchildren, Jesse (Maria) Forstner, Nicole Svingen, Joni (Tony) Stadtherr, Jenna (Nick) Peterson, Matthew Meyer, Emily Meyer, Jessica Meyer, Nathan Meyer; great-grandchildren, Jack, Griffin, Gretta, Dustin, Ruby, Charles, Kenneth, Haidyn, Haddie, Hank and newborn, Natalie, whom he was happy to meet on Wednesday.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rosella; sister, Norma Fritz; and daughter-in-law, Pam Meyer.
