From news articles to conversations at the local gym, chronic pain is a hot topic as of late. It’s no wonder when approximately 50 million Americans have suffered from chronic pain.

2020 Gibbon Royalty crowned

The 2020 Gibbon Royalty was crowned at the annual Royalty Coronation and Fire Department Recognition event on Sunday evening, January 19. Representing the community of Gibbon as Royals for the year will be Baleigh Peterson (left), daughter of Daryl and Marilee Peterson, and Rylee Sabo (right), daughter of Ryan and Nickie Sabo. Area Parish Group travels to India

Father Bruno, the pastor of the All Saints Area Faith Community (Franklin, Fairfax, Gibbon and Winthrop Catholic parishes) left on Sunday, January 5 with 18 travelers for a tour of India. Those in the tour group are from Fairfax, Gibbon, Winthrop, New Ulm and other local towns. The group will be visiting many areas including the home of Father’s parents. The tour will take two weeks however Fr. Bruno will stay in India for several more days visiting his family and the Benedictine Monastery in India that he resided at before coming to the New Ulm Diocese.

City & Country Tavern under new ownership

If you’ve visited the City & Country Tavern in Morgan in the past month and a half or so, you might have noticed a couple new faces and maybe some other changes as well.

Those new faces belong to Nikole Wollin and Marvin Feldewerd, who paired up to purchase the City & Country Tavern from Tony and Kelly Rahe back in November.

Blair Anderson recognized for his service in Renville County

Blair Anderson was recently recognized for his service to the Renville County Housing Redevelopment Authority/ Economic Development Authority (HRA/EDA). Anderson stepped down at the end of 2019 after 14 years on the board.

Well, the Gibbon Funfest Committee has just what you need. Gibbon’s annual Winterfest is almost here!

Beginning Friday, January 17, Winterfest is an entire weekend full of fun, and it starts at Minnwest Bank with winter treats and a snowman display held from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm. 

2019 Gibbon Royalty prepares to pass their crowns

Stephanie Mashuga and Emily Burns have just two weeks left of their reign as the 2019 Gibbon Royalty. As they look back on the last 12 months, both girls enjoyed their year and have a lot of memories to take with them as they pass on their crowns.

Steph and Emily, both Seniors at GFW, were good friends before they were crowned last January, so spending the last year together, going to royalty events, parades, etc. made them even closer.

Gibbon native visits Antarctica

Kevin Taralseth, a native of Gibbon, is spending some time working on a glacier in Antarctica. He’s responsible for keeping the camp running smoothly.

 

Gibbon native Kevin Taralseth is in the midst of what he considers the trip of a lifetime. When most of us hear that phrase, we think Hawaii, Alaska or Europe, or maybe Australia. Kevin is in Antarctica.
