Franklin Council holds emergency meeting

An Emergency Meeting of the Franklin City Council was held on Thursday, March 19, via teleconference to address the COVID-19 pandemic.

Renville County Offices closed to the public

On March 19, 2020, all Renville County offices were closed to the public.

Exceptions will be made for Renville County citizen/client transactions that require an in-person visit and cannot be postponed; these exceptions will require an appointment. The intent of this measure is to implement prevention and protection measures in response to the expanding COVID-19 pandemic.

COVID-19 continues to impact daily life

The COVID-19 virus is making its way across the planet, chalking up some staggering numbers and statistics.

As of Monday, March 23, in Minnesota, there were 235 confirmed cases of COVID-19. That number jumped up 66 cases from yesterday. Unfortunately, it also claimed its first victim in Minnesota over the weekend. 

Help at home during this time of crisis

During this crazy time of uncertainty and un- well, un-everything, the way it seems, there is at least one local bright light on this rocky shore that people in our area can turn to for help.

Signs of spring

Despite the fact that it seems nothing is normal in the human world right now, the wildlife in our area just keep doing their thing, completely unconcerned by viruses and social distancing. The Trumpeter Swans have arrived, and the Canadian geese and various types of ducks can be seen and heard anywhere near bodies of water, even if they are still frozen. These swans were seen over the weekend in several fields near Clear Lake south of Gibbon. 

Bloodmobile Tuesday in Fairfax

A bloodmobile is being planned in Fairfax for Tuesday, March 24 at Prairie Lutheran School from 1:00 to 7:00 pm. The shortage of blood is severe so please donate if you can. Everyone who enters the building will need to have their temperature taken first. Appointments are preferred and Rapid Pass is encouraged. To make an appointment, call Barb at 507-426-7759 or go online to RedCross.org.

Fairfax Council approves DNR Grant application for park improvements

The Fairfax City Council held their March meeting on Tuesday, February 10, 2020.

The meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance the approval of the agenda, and the consent agenda.

Franklin Council discusses city-wide clean-up day

The Franklin City Council held their regular meeting on March 9, 2020. 

Following the approval of the agenda and the Consent Agenda, the group moved on to department head reports. Deputy Peterson will be the city’s primary deputy, replacing Deputy Wortham. Peterson indicated he has addressed the stop sign complaint and will be acting on recent barking dog complaints. 

Morgan Council makes changes to Residential Renew Program

The Morgan City Council held their March meeting on March 11, 2020.

Following the approval of the agenda and last month’s minutes, the group welcomed new Council Member Corey Reding and the Oath of Office was administered.
