According to ‘History’ online (history.com), while Cinco de Mayo is a relatively minor holiday in Mexico, in the United States, Cinco de Mayo has evolved into a commemoration of Mexican culture and heritage, particularly in areas with large Mexican American populations.
It is also important to remember two things:
1) May 5 is not the Mexican Independence Day, which is a popular misconception. That celebration is held on September 16.

The Morgan Lions Club donated $250 to the Renville County Back the Pack program at Cedar Mountain (CM) Elementary.
Jim Lueken of the Morgan Lions Club was the point of contact for this request, “Yes, this is the first time the Lions have donated toward this program. After Ms. Sturm approached me with this opportunity, I knew it would fit well into the serve we (the Lions) do.”
