March 1-8 was a busy time at PLS as Lutheran Education week was observed. It began on Sunday, with a full crowd in the basement at Immanuel in Gibbon as coaches and participants of fall and winter sports were all recognized at the Activities Awards Night.

Lafayette Public Charter School (LCS) received a donation from the Minnesota Vikings for our Physical Education program. The Vikings donated pinnies, flag football belts, footballs, a kicking tee and a curriculum book to assist our Physical Education teacher, Mrs. Barb Wenninger. The goal of the donation is to help enhance and encourage our students to learn how to throw, catch, and kick while working as a team, enjoying physical activity and actively playing flag football. At a special meeting on Friday, February 28th, the GFW School Board voted to close the Intermediate School prior to the beginning of the 20-21 school year. It is unfortunate that the financial issues of the district necessitated the closing of a building, but it was needed to allow the district to move forward.
