The Gibbon Fire Department held their annual Chicken Dinner on Sunday, March 13 at the fire barn in Gibbon. The event was strictly drive-thru, and people were lined up for blocks to get their meals. The group started serving at 11:00 am and by 2:00 pm, they were out of chicken and had served 1,143 meals. The funds raised at the event will be used to update the equipment used by the department. As you might expect, one of the most difficult tasks for any school district is to fully prepare the students in their care for what lies ahead. Since nobody can predict the future, it’s hard to know what that looks like, and thus, hard to know what to prepare for.

If Gene Fuchs of Morgan had been born at a later date, he most likely would have been a World War II fighter pilot. Fuchs is not a big man in stature, but he's always been big on flying. A military flight instructor Fuchs knew once told him he would have been the perfect fit in a military cockpit.
Gene Fuchs, now nearing 90, has logged over 10,000 hours in the air since he first started flying at age 15.

J.K. Pasture Farm's Reading Rabbits visited Morgan Public Library on February 28th for Bedtime Stories. The kids enjoyed story books about bunnies and then got to learn about rabbit care and rabbit genetics. The kids ended the night playing with the rabbits and feeding them bedtime snacks. The regular monthly meeting of the Gibbon City Council was held March 1, 2022.
City Engineer Bryan Petzel was in attendance to go over bids for the E. 12th Street Project. The lowest bid came from Nielson Blacktopping, Inc. of Kasota at $199,037.62. ISG has worked with the company on past projects and have had good results. Council approved a resolution accepting the bid from Nielson Blacktopping.

Karen Buboltz, of Fairfax, retired in January after spending 41 years caring for hundreds, maybe thousands of children from the area.
Karen grew up in Gibbon and moved to Fairfax with her husband Brian in November of 1980. She started her daycare in January of 1981 because she wanted to be at home with her kids.
