Changes to garbage service in Fairfax and Franklin
Crews at Clobes Sanitation distributed new garbage bins to residents in Fairfax and Franklin last week. The new bins will replace the garbage bag tags that were previously used in both communities.

Kari Sandgren of Franklin (left) and Denise Palmer of Fairfax (right) were the big winners of our Shop Local BINGO game. Kari and Denise each took home a gift basket packed full of great merchandise and gift cards donated by local businesses. Each basket was worth over $200! We’d like to thank the local businesses for donating and our readers for participating.

Franklin native Brian Pederson has spent most of his life crunching numbers. After graduating from Franklin High School, he went to college at Mankato to be an accountant.
He passed the CPA exam in 1983 and went into public accounting with his brother and cousin up near Walker, Minnesota.

Members of Augustana Lutheran Church in Gibbon braved frigid temps on Christmas Eve to bring the true meaning of Christmas to the public with a drive-thru live nativity. Participting in the nativity were Todd Sievert and his son Axel, Kraig Kent, Beth Magnusson, Sue Bentz, Ryan Magnusson and Ethan Stark.

Trista Radermacher is the new City Clerk/Treasurer for the City of Franklin. She started in her new position on November 9, 2020, and has spent the last two months learning everything she can from her predecessor, Wendy Pederson.

The Franklin City Council met on December 14 for their regular meeting.
Guests present were: Shelly Eldridge, Bill Helget, Nicole Rendon, Ben Ranft, Esther Scharfencamp, Matt Mumme, Karen Hoffmann-Distad, and Jason Mangen.
After the Pledge of Allegiance was recited and the agenda and consent agenda were approved, Mayor Sherman opened the Truth in Taxation Public Hearing. No comments received, so the public hearing was closed.
