The Morgan Fire and Ambulance Departments held their annual 9/11 Memorial Brunch on Sunday, September 11. The event included good food, visiting with friends and neighbors, and firetruck rides for the kids. Tracy Elsing of Morgan also donated a picture she made to the fire hall. Morgan resident Dena Bickhardt has created some beautiful things during her 75 years on this earth. She says she has always loved working with her hands, so she started woodworking, and then took a lesson in stained glass from a gentleman in Sleepy Eye. She made beautiful windows and doors for 30 years.
A bad accident in 2014 that nearly took Dena’s life eventually led to the art she is creating now.

The sunflower field by Fish Sunflowers located in Gibbon opened to the public on August 31. You have a limited amount of time to check it out though – the field closes again after September 12. Andrea Merkel, of rural Fairfax, has been selected to fill the recently vacated Fairfax City Administrator position.
The Fairfax Council interviewed Merkel on Monday, August 22 during a special Council Meeting. At the end of that meeting, the group unanimously approved (minus Councilor Schmidt, who abstained due to a conflict of interest) an offer of employment to Merkel.

On Saturday, August 20, Jim and Diane Becker of Fairfax, volunteers with the Renville County Walk in the Park committee, hauled a large load of donations to the Ronald McDonald House in Rochester, Minnesota.

Team Gibbon invites you to join them for a special fundraising event to bring awareness to Alzheimers and other dementias.
On Saturday, September 10, Team Gibbon will welcome Nashville recording artist Jay Allen, along with local cover band 2nd Notion for a street dance/concert on First Street in Gibbon. The gates will open at 6 pm, and 2nd Notion will kick things off at 7 pm. Jay Allen will perform from 8 to 10 pm, and 2nd Notion will return to the stage until midnight.
