Minions, the small, yellow creatures from the beloved 2015 film will be taking over Main Street in Gibbon during Gibbon Funfest, July 15 through 18.
In addition to the weekend celebration, this year there will be a new feature, the Gibbon Walk-About to be held on July 17, from 10 a.m., to 4 p.m., located on Main Street.

The oldest home in Franklin, which was located at 440 4th Street, was demolished recently. The home was built before the town was platted. According to the Franklin History book, the wood frame house was originally located across the street but was moved on a skid pulled by horses. The horses could go no further, so the house was left where it sat. The first known residents of the dwelling were the Joe Peterkin family.

Gibbon area residents gathered in the City Park on Friday, July 2 for a patriotic concert provided by the Greater Gibbon Area Uncommon Band of Renown, a flag march, crafts and other fun activities for the kids. The GFW School Board recently met on June 21 beginning with the presentation of a certificate of recognition to Michael Foods of Gaylord, which donated food to the GFW end of the year staff and student celebration.
The Superintendent’s report was presented by GFW Superintendent, Jeff Horton.

The Cedar Mountain School Board met for their regular meeting on June 21.
Joel Harmoning from Farmers Union Insurance presented on the district’s insurance policy renewal, which includes an increase of 7.32 percent. The insurance policy was approved.
