In order to celebrate homecoming week, students will have dress-up days during the week, and activities at the football field on Tuesday (B group) and Wednesday (A group). Coronation will be held prior to the football game on October 9 against Westbrook Walnut Grove. (There will not be a variety show this year.)

The GFW School Board met for their regular meeting on Monday, September 21 at the Elementary School in Gibbon.
Following the approval of the agenda, the group recognized several members of the group ‘Generations for Warmth’. This group made and donated cloth masks to the district for students. The school board expressed their appreciation and presented them with a framed certificate.

Following a special meeting of their Board of Directors on Monday, September 21, the Minnesota State High School League voted to allow the football and volleyball seasons to commence yet this fall.

This time of the year in Minnesota is absolutely beautiful. There are vibrant fall colors everywhere you look. From the trees in the river bottom to pumpkins and mums on the front porch, Minnesota puts on her finest attire this time of the year.
But as we all know, they won’t last long so don’t miss your chance to get out and see them!

It has been a few weeks since we provided you with the current COVID-19 numbers according to the Minnesota Department of Health. With school and sports underway, and larger gatherings being held, the numbers have increased recently, even in our local counties.

September 22 marked the first day of Autumn, but evidence of the changing seasons can been seen all around us. This field of soybeans located near Fairfax still shows a hint of green, but it has definitely turned the corner and the leaves will soon be falling off the stalks. Trees are also sporting their fall colors and while this week’s weather is forecasted to be in the 70- to 80-degree range, the nights are getting cooler. Fall is definitely here.
