For the past several years, a group of people from Renville County have been hosting the ‘Renville County Walk in the Park’. This event is the local equivalent of the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. The main difference is that the funds raised at the Walk in the Park events stays local.

Six young ladies will be vying for the title of Miss Franklin on Thursday evening. Due to COVID-19, Catfish Derby Days is not happening this year, but the Miss Franklin Pageant will take place on July 24 at 7:30 pm at the Franklin Community Center.
Only 50 people are allowed to attend the event in person, but they plan to live stream the event on their Facebook page.

At a special school board meeting on July 6, new GFW Superintendent Jeff Horton presented his 100-Day Plan.
Horton started in his role as Superintendent, officially, on July 1, but had put in some time before that, working with outgoing Superintendent Lonnie Siefert and meeting with staff and community members.

The Gibbon City Council met for their regular meeting on July 6, 2020.
After the agenda was approved, the group discussed the 2019 Street Project. A change order was approved to adjust the official contract price with the actual costs of any estimated unit prices and highlights a portion of the money that will be held while the grass on the boulevard is corrected.
